Job Overview
The Industrial IoT Solutions Architect will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of IIoT platforms that connect machines, sensors, and enterprise systems within Toyota’s East London manufacturing hub. This role is pivotal in driving digital transformation, enabling real‑time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and data‑driven decision making. Key Responsibilities
- Architect end‑to‑end IIoT solutions that integrate PLCs, sensors, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Define technical standards, data models, and communication protocols for factory floor connectivity.
- Collaborate with production teams to identify use cases such as predictive maintenance, quality control, and energy optimization.
- Lead proof‑of‑concept pilots, evaluate emerging technologies, and recommend scalable implementations.
- Ensure robust cybersecurity measures, including device authentication, network segmentation, and threat monitoring.
- Develop documentation, roadmaps, and training materials for internal stakeholders.
- Monitor solution performance, analyze data insights, and continuously improve system reliability.
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in IIoT platforms (e.g., Azure IoT, AWS IoT, Siemens MindSphere).
- Proficiency in industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus.
- Hands‑on experience with edge computing devices, PLC programming, and sensor integration.
- Solid understanding of cloud architectures, microservices, and containerization.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks for OT environments (e.g., IEC 62443).
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a data‑driven mindset.
- Effective communication skills to translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in IoT, cloud platforms, or cybersecurity are highly desirable.
Experience
