Job Overview

The Smart Manufacturing Data Integration Lead will spearhead the design, implementation, and optimization of data pipelines that connect shop‑floor equipment, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and advanced analytics platforms. Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop scalable data integration frameworks using industry‑standard tools such as Apache Kafka, Azure Data Factory, and OPC UA.
  • Collaborate with equipment manufacturers and system integrators to define data models, tag structures, and communication protocols.
  • Implement real‑time data ingestion pipelines that feed analytics dashboards, predictive maintenance models, and production optimization engines.
  • Lead a team of data engineers and analysts, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship.
  • Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with South African data protection regulations.
  • Work closely with the sales and consulting teams to translate customer requirements into technical solutions.
  • Develop proof‑of‑concept projects that showcase the value of integrated data for smart factories.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot integration issues, and continuously improve pipeline efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Strong expertise in data integration technologies (ETL, streaming, APIs).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
  • Experience with industrial communication standards (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus).

Education
