Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Durban. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting geotechnical investigations, analyzing soil mechanics, and designing foundations and earthworks for a variety of infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and supervise geotechnical site investigations and in-situ testing.
- Perform geotechnical analyses for slope stability and foundation bearing capacity.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical interpretative and design reports.
- Design shallow and deep foundations and retaining walls.
- Provide technical support during construction, including site inspections.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in geotechnical design software like GeoStudio or Plaxis.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics and engineering geology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting.
- Proven project management skills and ability to manage deliverables.
Education
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution. A postgraduate qualification specializing in Geotechnical Engineering is highly advantageous.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy is required. Candidates should have a proven track record of working on civil engineering projects and be registered as a Professional Engineer (PrEng) with ECSA.
