Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of digital archaeology projects, including the creation of 3D models, virtual reality experiences, and digital databases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in archaeology, computer science, and digital heritage preservation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement digital archaeology projects, including 3D modeling, virtual reality experiences, and digital databases
- Collaborate with archaeologists, historians, and other stakeholders to develop and implement digital heritage preservation projects
- Design and implement digital tools and platforms for the preservation and management of cultural heritage
- Conduct research and analysis to inform the development of digital archaeology projects
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, museums, and other cultural institutions
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Archaeology or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in digital archaeology, computer science, or related field
- Strong background in 3D modeling, virtual reality, and digital databases
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Archaeology or a related field. A Ph.D. in Archaeology or a related field will be an added advantage.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in digital archaeology, computer science, or a related field. Experience in project management, team leadership, and stakeholder engagement will be highly valued.
Salary
The salary for this position will be R600,000 – R800,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
