Job Overview
The Wind Turbine Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day performance, reliability, and safety of Vestas’ wind assets in the Eastern Cape. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you will oversee a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and contractors to ensure optimal turbine availability, compliance with regulatory standards, and achievement of production targets. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, implementing predictive maintenance strategies, and collaborating with stakeholders to maximize the return on investment for Vestas and its clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all operational activities for a portfolio of 30+ wind turbines, ensuring maximum availability and performance.
- Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance plans using data‑driven analytics and condition‑monitoring tools.
- Manage a team of 15+ field technicians and engineers, providing coaching, performance reviews, and career development.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with the engineering department to implement turbine upgrades, retrofits, and performance enhancements.
- Prepare and present monthly operational reports, KPI dashboards, and financial summaries to senior leadership.
- Liaise with local authorities, landowners, and community representatives to maintain positive stakeholder relationships.
- Oversee contract management with third‑party service providers, ensuring service level agreements are met.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging lean methodologies to reduce downtime and operational costs.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of wind turbine technology, SCADA systems, and predictive maintenance software.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities in a technical environment.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and implement corrective actions.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Solid understanding of South African energy regulations and HSE standards.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Wind Energy Professional (CWEP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in wind turbine operations, maintenance, or asset management, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience working with Vestas equipment or similar OEMs is highly preferred.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from R600,000 to R900,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, pension contributions, and a comprehensive benefits suite.
