Job Overview
The Theater Production Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of theatrical productions under the NAC’s cultural outreach initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end production of theater performances, including script selection, casting, and technical coordination.
- Manage budgets, timelines, and resources for multiple productions annually.
- Collaborate with directors, actors, and technical teams to ensure artistic excellence.
- Develop partnerships with local theaters, schools, and cultural organizations.
- Coordinate marketing and audience engagement strategies for performances.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and accessibility standards for all events.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in theater production management, including stage design and event logistics.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage diverse creative teams.
- Proficiency in budgeting software and project management tools.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities for stakeholder relations.
- Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to promoting diversity in the arts.
- Knowledge of South African cultural policies and funding mechanisms.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Arts, Performing Arts, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualifications or certifications in production management are advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years in theater production or event management roles.
- Experience working with government or nonprofit arts organizations is preferred.
Salary
- 35,000 – 45,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
