Job Overview
The Risk Management Data Analyst will support the bank’s enterprise risk framework by analysing large data sets, developing predictive models, and preparing regulatory reports. The role collaborates closely with the Credit Risk, Market Risk, and Operational Risk teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and actionable insights. The analyst will also contribute to the development of risk dashboards and support senior management in strategic decision‑making. Key Responsibilities
- Extract, cleanse, and validate risk‑related data from internal systems and external sources.
- Develop statistical models to forecast credit defaults, market volatility, and operational loss events.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports in line with Basel III, SARB, and local compliance standards.
- Design and maintain interactive risk dashboards for senior leadership.
- Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to improve data pipelines and storage solutions.
- Identify emerging risk trends and provide actionable recommendations.
- Support ad‑hoc risk assessments and scenario analysis projects.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python or R for data manipulation and modelling.
- Strong knowledge of risk metrics such as PD, LGD, EAD, VaR, and stress testing.
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik).
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills to translate complex data into clear business insights.
- Attention to detail and a strong sense of data governance.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CFA are highly desirable and demonstrate a commitment to the risk management profession.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in risk analytics, preferably within a banking or financial services environment. Experience with regulatory reporting, model validation, and cross‑functional collaboration is essential.
Salary
