Job Overview

The Renewable Energy Project Analyst will play a pivotal role in evaluating, planning and monitoring renewable energy projects from conception through commissioning. Working closely with engineers, finance teams and external stakeholders, the analyst will provide data‑driven insights that shape project feasibility, risk assessment and performance optimization. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct technical and financial feasibility studies for wind, solar and hybrid projects.
• Develop and maintain detailed project models, cash flow analyses and sensitivity scenarios.
• Coordinate with land owners, government agencies and local communities to secure permits and approvals.
• Monitor project milestones, budgets and timelines, providing regular status reports to senior management.
• Identify and evaluate potential risks, proposing mitigation strategies to ensure project resilience.
• Support the preparation of investment memoranda and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to optimize design specifications and performance targets.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in Excel, PowerBI or similar data visualization tools.
• Understanding of renewable energy technologies, market dynamics and regulatory frameworks in South Africa.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Project management experience, including scheduling and budget control.
• Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Attention to detail and a proactive problem‑solving mindset.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, Economics or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in project management or energy finance are advantageous.

Experience

Applicants should have 3‑5 years of relevant experience in renewable energy project analysis, consultancy, or a similar role within the energy sector. Experience with South African energy policies and grid integration is highly valued.

Salary
