Job Overview
This role focuses on implementing precision livestock farming (PLF) solutions tailored to South African agribusinesses. The specialist will work closely with farmers, agronomists, and technology partners to integrate IoT-enabled monitoring systems, AI-driven analytics, and automated feeding solutions. The position emphasizes reducing waste, improving animal health, and enhancing traceability across the livestock supply chain. Candidates will contribute to Yara’s mission of transforming agriculture through technology, while supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for responsible consumption and production.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy precision livestock farming systems using IoT sensors and AI algorithms.
- Conduct on-site assessments to identify opportunities for resource optimization and waste reduction.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate PLF solutions with existing farm management software.
- Analyze livestock health data to recommend actionable improvements in feeding and breeding practices.
- Provide training and technical support to farmers on the use of PLF technologies.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in precision agriculture and livestock management systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Python, R, or SQL) and IoT platform integration.
- Strong understanding of sustainable farming practices and circular economy principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Fluency in Afrikaans or Zulu is a distinct advantage.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science, Animal Husbandry, or a related field. A Master’s Degree in AgriTech or Environmental Science is preferred.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in agricultural technology, with a focus on livestock management. Prior project management experience in rural development initiatives is highly desirable.
Salary
300,000 – 450,000 SSP annually, with performance-based bonuses and profit-sharing opportunities.
