Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Specialist to join our Corporate Affairs team in Johannesburg. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring sustainable community development projects that align with our corporate values and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend community development projects for funding and implementation.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of approved CSI projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Engage with community leaders, local government, and other stakeholders to build strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of CSI initiatives, preparing detailed reports for executive management and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with the Mining Charter, Social and Labour Plans (SLPs), and other relevant South African legislation.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to showcase the positive impacts of our CSI programs.

Required Skills

  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of delivering community development initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with the ability to navigate complex social dynamics.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African mining legislation, including the Mining Charter and SLP requirements.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English and at least one local South African language.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to measure and report on social impact metrics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

Education

A Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Policy, or a closely related field is required. A postgraduate qualification in corporate social responsibility or project management will be highly advantageous.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing corporate social investment or community development projects, preferably within the mining, resources, or heavy industry sectors in South Africa.
