Job Overview
The Risk Management Analyst will join the Johannesburg Risk Management hub, supporting the development, monitoring, and reporting of credit and market risk metrics. This role is pivotal in ensuring that Standard Bank maintains its high standards of risk governance while delivering value to customers and shareholders. Key Responsibilities
- Analyse credit portfolios and market exposures to identify emerging risk trends.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly risk reports for internal stakeholders.
- Assist in the development and validation of risk models and stress‑testing frameworks.
- Collaborate with business units to ensure risk policies are consistently applied.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on the bank’s risk profile.
- Support the implementation of risk mitigation strategies and action plans.
- Participate in ad‑hoc risk projects and data‑driven initiatives.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in Excel and statistical tools.
- Experience using risk management software such as SAS, R, or Python.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and present findings clearly.
- Attention to detail and a proactive problem‑solving mindset.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as FRM or CFA are advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in risk analysis, credit assessment, or a comparable finance role within a banking or financial services environment.
Salary
