Job Overview
The Retail Operations Analyst will play a pivotal role in optimizing store performance across the Eastern Cape region. Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will analyze sales trends, inventory turnover, and operational metrics to recommend actionable improvements. Your insights will directly influence merchandising strategies, staffing models, and promotional planning, ensuring that each store meets its financial targets while maintaining superior customer service standards. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, cleanse, and interpret large datasets from point‑of‑sale systems, inventory management tools, and workforce scheduling platforms.
- Develop weekly and monthly performance dashboards that highlight key KPIs such as sales per square metre, stock‑out rates, and labor productivity.
- Identify trends and anomalies, providing recommendations to store managers for inventory adjustments, pricing strategies, and promotional activities.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team to align product assortment with regional consumer preferences and seasonal demand.
- Support the implementation of new retail technologies, including automated replenishment systems and mobile analytics applications.
- Prepare detailed reports for senior leadership, summarising findings and outlining strategic action plans.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or Tableau for data visualisation.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into clear business recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of retail operations, supply chain processes, and inventory management principles.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with SQL or other database query languages is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in data analytics or retail management will be considered favourably.
Experience
Applicants should possess 3‑5 years of experience in retail operations analysis, store performance optimisation, or a comparable analytical role within the consumer goods sector. Experience working with large retail datasets and a proven track record of delivering measurable improvements are essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 350,000 to SSP 450,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health benefits, and a retirement savings plan.
