Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Aviation Safety Auditor to join our Quality and Safety Assurance department in Johannesburg. In this role, you will conduct safety audits across operational areas, ensuring compliance with civil aviation regulations and internal safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct safety and quality audits of flight operations, ground handling, and maintenance.
• Analyze safety data and flight data monitoring reports to identify trends and risks.
• Prepare detailed audit reports with actionable recommendations for corrective actions.
• Liaise with the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) during external audits.
• Facilitate safety risk assessments and participate in incident investigations.
• Monitor the implementation of corrective action plans across departments.

Required Skills

• In-depth knowledge of South African Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs) and ICAO standards.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret complex operational data and safety metrics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting audit reports.
• Certification as an aviation safety auditor (e.g., IOSA) is highly advantageous.
• Proficiency in safety management systems (SMS) software.
• Ability to work independently and maintain objectivity.

Education

A Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field is required. Equivalent military aviation experience or a commercial pilot license (CPL) with safety training will also be considered.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation safety, quality assurance, or flight operations within a commercial airline environment is required. Proven experience in conducting formal audits and managing Safety Management Systems (SMS) is essential.
