As a Water Resource Management Consultant, you will join a team of experts dedicated to addressing critical water challenges through science, engineering, and community collaboration.

Job Overview

This role focuses on designing and implementing water resource strategies to optimize water use, mitigate risks, and support sustainable development in East London and surrounding regions. The position requires technical expertise in hydrological modeling, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement to ensure equitable water distribution and environmental protection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrological assessments and develop water management plans for municipal and industrial clients.
  • Collaborate with local governments and NGOs to design flood mitigation and drought resilience projects.
  • Analyze water quality data and recommend solutions for pollution control and ecosystem restoration.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for clients, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders.
  • Lead field surveys and data collection for watershed management initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in GIS and hydrological modeling software (e.g., HEC-HMS, SWAT).
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating water demand, supply, and distribution systems.
  • Experience in South African water policy frameworks and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and adapt to remote field conditions.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification or certification in Water Resource Management is an advantage.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in water resource consulting, environmental engineering, or similar roles.
  • Proven track record in managing water infrastructure projects in South Africa.

Salary

55,000 – 75,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
